About the Workshop

Psychosocial risks are not merely matters of wellbeing or employee satisfaction; they are occupational risks that can affect workers’ health, attention, decision-making, behaviour and ultimately safety and organisational performance.

This practical workshop provides a structured approach to identifying, assessing and managing psychosocial risks at work. It examines how excessive workload, chronic work pressure, inadequate support and communication, role ambiguity, workplace conflict, isolation and organisational change can become risk factors affecting both people and organisations.

The workshop moves beyond treating mental health solely as an individual responsibility and positions psychosocial risk as an integral part of occupational health and safety management, informed by the principles of ISO 45003. Participants will practise hazard identification, risk assessment and the selection of preventive and organisational controls, concluding with a practical Psychosocial Risk Action Plan for their workplace.

Workshop Objectives

  1. Distinguish between mental health, psychological safety and psychosocial risk.
  2. Identify key psychosocial hazards in the workplace.
  3. Understand how work pressure, stress, burnout and organisational factors affect human performance and safety.
  4. Recognise early warning signals before psychosocial harm escalates.
  5. Apply a structured approach to psychosocial risk assessment.
  6. Select appropriate preventive and organisational controls and develop a practical action plan.
